In today’s globalised world, English is often used as the lingua franca in meetings with colleagues and clients from abroad, or during conferences and congresses, because “everybody speaks English nowadays”. Doing this, communication is less effective, messages lose their strength, and you run the risk of making people who don’t master English feel left out.
My English-Italian interpreting service is here to help you avoid these issues: a professional interpreter will take care of your words and communication needs with utmost care.
The English-Italian interpreting service works for you if…
- You are organising a conference, a course, a press event whose attendants speak different languages, but you need for everyone to understand and interact.
- You want to reach a broader audience and organise a truly inclusive event.
- You have an important meeting with Italian stakeholders, but you don’t speak Italian, and the counterparts’ English is not excellent.
- You want to leave the communication in good hands so that you can devote your attention to what you do best.

How does the English – Italian interpreting service work?
You send me your request, and then we’ll have a chat on the phone, over Skype, via e-mail or even in person, if you are in Milan: I listen to your needs, I ask some question, and then I suggest the interpreting mode that better suits your event.
Should you need, I can organise the technical service, recruit colleagues with different language combinations and other professionals, too, and coordinate the team.
You will find all the details in my proposal; if you are happy with it, we can start working together.
I will send you some documents to facilitate your work, and I’ll always be happy to answer any question you may have. To prepare for the event, I will ask you to send me materials such as slides, speeches, event schedule, and I will complete a glossary on the event’s topic.
On the day of the event, I will be on-site at least 30 minutes before the event starts so that I can be briefed on last-minute changes, test the equipment and solve any doubt. Then, I’ll go and do my favourite thing ever: lend my voice to your ideas, choosing the right words!
What are the Italian-English interpreting solutions available?
Each event has needs, and we will examine them together before choosing the best interpreting solution for you. Thanks to my experience and my language skills, I can interpret both from English into Italian and from Italian into English, so that communication can flow smoothly in every situation
Simultaneous interpreting: it is generally used in big events when many people need translation, such as conferences, congresses, training courses, conventions, focus groups, etc.
The interpreter translates the speakers as they speak so that the communication is immediate and a lot of time is saved. For this interpreting mode, you will need sound-proof booths, a console and two headsets, as well as wireless receivers for the audience.
Consecutive interpreting is used for business meetings, interviews, presentations as well as for short events or speeches. The interpreter translates the speakers after they spoke, relying on memory and notes.
If you pick this solution, please bear in mind that it will require more time, but it does not need any equipment other than a microphone (and not always).
Whispered interpreting, also known as chuchotage, it is similar to simultaneous interpreting and it is used during shorter events in which only a couple of people needs to listen to the translation. The interpreter translates the speakers as they speak and she whispers the translation in the listener’s ear, so no equipment is needed.
Remote interpreting: lately, online events and events where interpreters are not physically present have become increasingly popular. In this case, both simultaneous or consecutive interpreting can be performed, and the equipment and tools used to have to ensure a good video and audio quality for interpreters.

The peculiarities of English-Italian interpreting
English is a global language and it is spoken in many different ways.
Interpreting a speaker from Scotland is different from interpreting an Aussie or someone from the South of the US, not only in terms of accent but also in terms of words and expressions.
In many International events, often non-native English speaker still speak in English, and although they generally have a good level, you can notice an accent or some “Anglicised” words and expression calqued on their mother tongue – this makes my job a bit trickier.
English is also a language that creates many neologisms and working as a professional in this sector, I always have to keep up to date with current events and with the Italian translation of the latest buzzwords.
My areas of expertise
I was the voice of Italian designers, Japanese architects, Syrian activists and American engineers. And of writers, surgeons, brand managers, marketing gurus, ministries, neuroscientists, hair stylists and people with a story to tell.

How much does the English – Italian interpreting service cost?
No interpreting gig is the same, and there are many variables to take into account.
After some preliminary questions, I’ll draft a quotation tailored for your event. To give you an idea, a full-day of interpreting (8 hours, including at least a 1-hour break) starts at 550 €.
If you need a simultaneous interpreting service, please bear in mind you need at least two interpreters: the job is very challenging and we have to take turns every 30 minutes.
